Are You A Supporter Or A Follower 2016-01-08 09:42:00

A FOLLOWER is a person who follows, or is interested in the progress of OUR CLUB; who will go to some matches, hopefully, to be entertained and by doing so, pays an entrance fee to support the Cork County Board. A follower IS NOT a supporter.

A SUPPORTER is a person who, recognising that OUR CLUB is an amateur organision, supports it by becoming or remaining a member and pays a membership fee, and/or takes part in our Lotto draw every week.

We have seen, over the years that some players, when retiring, and some committee members when stepping down, fail to renew their membership and therefore opt out of supporting the club and become followers instead.

Whilst OUR CLUB would appear to have a large number of followers, we have less than 500 supporters. A number of those never played with the Barrs, or never served on a committee. They are to be complimented for the contribution they make to supporting the running of OUR CLUB

Are you a supporter or a follower. If the latter, we urge you to become a supporter again, starting in 2016, fill in the membership application and pay the appropriate fee. Or make a conscious decision to buy tickets every week for our Lotto draw. Please contribute to the effort to position the Barrs at the top again. Nowadays, spirit on its own is not sufficient. Finance is needed to keep the necessary structure in place.

Be proud to play your part. Take out or renew your membership in 2016 and support our Lotto.
